How To: Slick Back Bun Without The Damage

How To: Slick Back Bun Without The Damage

If you’ve been MOO-ving around social media lately, you’ve probably noticed that many influencers, celebrities and even us normal folks have been leaning heavily into that ‘clean girl’, slick back low bun hairstyle. Although the low bun favoured by the likes of models and celebrities looks effortless, re-creating the look isn’t always as easy as it seems. Especially if you’re being mindful of keeping your hair healthy and avoiding nasty ingredients. Luckily, we’ve got the lowdown on how to easily get the look with MooGoo Ambassador, Georgia Dostal. Georgia is a ballerina turned ballet teacher who has very sensitive skin and has been organically using our products for years! Who better to give us a demo on how to achieve that perfectly smooth, slick back bun without stressing out your strands.

Step 1: Start With Freshly Washed Hair

“I use the bestselling MooGoo Shampoo & Conditioner that are both formulated with Milk Protein to protect hair fibres and revitalise the hairs natural protective layer.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves! Our Milk Shampoo is great for all hair types, is natural and gentle yet extremely effective in deeply cleansing your scalp and hair from dirt, oil, and built-up product/residue. We’ve packed our Cream Conditioner with nourishing natural oils like Jojoba and Olive Oil because your hair deserves some extra love. It’s a hair sorcery potion that hydrates, conditions, and revitalises the hair cuticle back to life.

Oh, and let’s not forget about Piroctone Olamine! Both our Milk Shampoo and Cream Conditioner are formulated with Piroctone Olamine, and it’s like a superhero for your scalp! It helps to maintain and control the microflora of your scalp, so you can say ‘adios’ to dandruff, flaking and pesky scalp irritation.

Step 2: Comb In Some Leave-In Conditioner

“I use the MooGoo Protein Shot Leave-In Conditioner which is a DREAM as it contains Jojoba and Olive Oil to hydrate hair.”

After washing your hair, take a moment to gently towel dry the hair before applying a small amount of our Protein Shot Leave-In Conditioner. It’s a glow-up for your hair, packed with all the good stuff and none of the yucky stuff. We’re talking natural nourishing oils that work their way deep into your strands, giving ‘em some serious hydration instead of just a temporary feel-good moment. When we said no yucky stuff, we meant it! This also replaces the need for gel, hairspray and other styling products that coat the hair and scalp. With our Leave-In Conditioner you can pamper those precious ends and smooth out your style, without worrying about pesky product build-up. We’ve also added in Milk Protein which aids in hair repair by strengthening strands to encourage hair growth and prevent hair loss.

Step 3: Twist Into A Low Bun

“Choose a low bun style for less strain on the hair follicles than a higher style and secure with a clip to avoid hair breakage from hair ties. I promise you this stays in ALL DAY whilst I’m teaching!”

Opting for a low bun style is a healthier alternative to higher styles because you can distribute the weight of your hair more evenly. This means there is less strain and tension on your hair follicles because you’re not pulling or tugging as much. A low bun also keeps your hair closer to the natural alignment of your scalp which can minimise the risk of breakage, split ends and even headaches!
