Skin Concerns - Seborrheic Dermatitis

The term Dermatitis broadly refers to inflammation of the skin. Seborrheic Dermatitis is a type of Dermatitis that often occurs around the scalp, hairline, ears, neck, around the eyes or along the side of the nose. In babies, this is often referred to as Cradle Cap. Seborrheic Dermatitis is often confused with Psoriasis on the scalp, face or upper body, and vice versa.

For many people, the cause of their Seborrheic Dermatitis is often a reaction to a prevalence of Malassezia Yeast on the skin. This is normally present on the skin in small numbers, but sometimes it's numbers can increase resulting in noticeable symptoms and tends to occur in oilier areas. It results in red, flakey scaly skin in affected areas.

How We Can Help

Always see your medical practitioner for advice on how to manage Seborrheic Dermatitis. We make a moisturizing spot treatment called Scalp Cream that easily sinks into skin and scalp to help bring relief to red, irritated skin. This is suitable for all ages including children, babies and adults, and can be used as often as needed. If symptoms persist, consult your health care practitioner.

For anyone struggling with scalp issues, we always recommend using our Scalp Cream in conjuction with a natural, sulfate-free shampoo like our Milk Shampoo and a natural, silicone-free conditioner like our Cream Conditioner. You can find them together in our Hair Care Value Pack along with our silicone-free Protein Shot Leave-In and an aerosol-free Dry Shampoo.
