Every parent knows the drama of diapers and wearing one must be uncomfortable at the best of times. Maybe that’s why adults don’t remember their diaper days...

More than just a barrier

We made this cream because we all know that babies can get irritated skin around the diaper area. We take care with a 3-pronged approach: protecting from further irritation, addressing the cause and soothing the symptoms so baby's skin can chill out, relax and get some rest (and hopefully, you can too).

Other than the hot conditions underneath a diaper, and moving around as much as they do, irritated skin can be cause by a reaction to urea, or yeast. To allow skin to heal, it needs to be protected, and that’s where a barrier cream comes in to prevent further irritation. For this job, we think Zinc does the trick because it stays in place (not like your little squirmy bundle of joy).

While protection is key, we wanted our cream to do more than just that. The base of this cream is made with skin-soothing, nut-free Jojoba, Evening Primrose, Olive and Sunflower Oil because they’re nourishing and absorb easily into the skin. So, finally your baby’s skin can chill out and get some rest (hopefully, you do too).

Finally, we get to the root of the problem with Piroctone Olamine, an anti-yeast ingredient helps prevent irritation from occurring in the first place. Some occasional ‘diaper-free’ time is good too.

MooGoo actually figured out a way to make zinc creams stress-free! They've made it a super easy option during diaper changes. It's spread so easily, it almost feels silky. It is also very easy to wash off with a wipe or during bath time. Since every parent loves a good tip, here’s one for you. You can use this cream anywhere on the body to help prevent chafing or rash. This includes the face where dribble rash can sometimes take hold.

Why we choose what we use

It’s common to think rash prevention creams are created equal, but that’s not the case. Most commercial ones are made with petroleum-based ingredients like Petroleum Jelly that do create a barrier of sorts, but don’t provide much benefit to the skin.

As with all our products, we use a natural preservation system to keep things fresh, in this case with Hops Extract. It’s free from Parabens, Phenoxyethanol, and other harsh chemicals.

My child has a nut allergy. Do they need nut-free skincare?

Most allergies to nuts are triggered by nut proteins, not nut oils. But when it comes to allergic reactions many people choose to be extra cautious and avoid anything made with nut oils as well. For that reason, we made this cream to give parents of children with allergies peace of mind.

Can I use MooGoo on a newborn?

We get this question a lot, and the simple answer is YES! All the ingredients we use in our products are gentle enough for newborns. We suggest you always patch test first to check for allergies to any natural ingredients.

My baby accidentally ate the product. Will they be OK?

We don’t recommend using our products as baby food, but if some is ingested you can rest assured that our products are made from 100% natural, edible ingredients.

Is Diaper Cream made of milk?

We aren’t called MooGoo because our products are made with milk. Putting fresh milk into a skincare care product and putting it on a shelf would not end well.

What is the pH level of your products? Our Soothing Baby Moisturizer is slightly acidic, balanced to the pH of human skin at 5.5 to 6.0.

Are your products tested on animals? The only animals we use for testing are our own bodies. We never test on animals and will not export to countries that do.

What does "Dermatologically Tested" mean?

You may have seen the term “Dermatologically Tested” on lots of products before, but did you know there’s not an actual definition or regulation for this term? Because that didn’t sit right with us, and because our aim is to make products for people with really sensitive skin, we decided to send a bunch of them off to be tested in an independent lab on 54 people who reported having sensitive skin. The results were given on a scale of 0 to 5 with 0 being no irritation or redness and 5 being a reaction. We’re happy to report that other than one person who had a reaction to the adhesive on the patch and another who found the patches painful to remove, all subjects reported 0 for redness and irritation for all the products we sent for testing.
