You might be wondering why we started making face serums when we’re best known for our hair care, and our gentle formulas for sensitive skin. As per usual, we weren’t happy with what we were seeing in the market, so we made our own.

A few things you should know

First, we selected ingredients that were well-studied and proven to be effective so we knew they would work. This included making sure the active ingredients we chose remain stable and effective (you’d be shocked to know how uncommon this is). They also need to meet the standards of our Ingredient Philosophy.

Then we wanted to make sure our formula had enough of the good stuff in it to make a meaningful difference to your skin (you’d also be shocked at how uncommon this is). We also had to make sure it can get into the skin by using a suitable delivery system because without this, ingredients can end up just sitting on the skin surface not doing a whole lot (more shock).

After many trials and many tweaks, we’re so pleased to offer you something we’re super proud of. How good is the formula? We think the results and your skin will speak for themselves. Now moving on to tell you what’s so special about this one.

Made for multi-tasking

When we first came across Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide, we knew we wanted to use them both. Being the skincare nerds that we are, we love well-studied ingredients that can talk the talk AND walk the walk; Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide both fit that bill.

We thought about using them separately, but the more we learned about them, the more we discovered just how well they get along, so we put this dynamic duo together, forever, ensuring this serum is bursting with benefits and relishing in results.

Hooray for hydration

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is naturally found in the skin and helps it retain moisture. HA levels in our skin decrease as we get older causing it to become dry more easily, resulting in the creation of fine lines. Collagen is mainly made of water so keeping moisture around helps boost its production and improves skin elasticity.

When applied, HA pulls moisture into the skin giving it a plumper appearance and improving overall skin texture. Since hydration in the skin is the best defense against the signs of ageing, sending in some assistance will always work in your favour. But hydration isn’t the only thing HA is good for. It also has antioxidant properties that work to protect your skin from free radical damage.

There are different kinds of HA with varying molecular weights. A higher weight has a hydrating effect resulting in long-lasting moisture. A lower molecular weight easily penetrates the skin to deliver its soothing properties. We use 2 different HAs, one higher weight, and one lower weight to give you the best of both worlds.

The niceness of Niacinamide

Niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3 and is best known for balancing your skin’s natural oil production. This helps reduce excess oils from building up which can lead to breakouts. Nobody likes breakouts. It also helps to maintain and improve skin barrier function which helps keep moisture in and pollutants/irritants out.

Niacinamide is also well tolerated by all skin types and is known to improve skin tone whilst reducing redness and calming irritation. Sounds like there isn’t much Niacinamide can’t do, and the research keeps coming out to back it up, making it one of the most versatile and exciting ingredients on the skincare block.

Other than HA’s admirable CV and Niacinamide’s raving reputation, there’s much more to this silky serum that we’d like to brag about. We packed this serum with an A-team of superstars including Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter for deep hydration.

But what's in our all-natural hydrating face serum is just as important as what's not. It also contains no parabens or other synthetic preservatives like yucky phenoxyethanol.

Do serums go underneath or on top of moisturizer?

Our face serums are designed to be applied directly to clean skin, before applying moisturizer. We recommend letting it soak in for a few minutes before applying your favourite moisturizer over top.

How do you apply serums in a face routine?

Your skin routine should always be based around your skin type, specific skin needs and personal preference. In general, serums are most effective when applied to clean skin. Allow a few minutes for it to soak in and apply your favourite moisturizer over top. For best results, we recommend using your serum of choice every morning and night before you apply your moisturizer. To keep things simple, we suggest sticking to one serum and one moisturizer per application, but if you have more than one of either on hand, you can alternate between them (for example, one in the AM and one in the PM) based on your skincare goals.

Can this serum be used around the eyes?

We like to keep things simple even if marketing can sometimes tell us otherwise and tries to convince us that we need a different product for every part of the body, and even different parts of the face. All our serums are gentle enough to be used anywhere you like, including the delicate skin of the eye area. However, we don’t recommend applying anything directly to your eyes or eyelids and suggest taking extra care with this area by applying serums around your orbital bone as the product can spread out and migrate a bit as it warms up to your body temperature. If any product does get into your eye, simply rinse with water.

Is Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide Active Serum made of milk?

We aren’t called MooGoo because our products are made with milk. Putting fresh milk into a skincare product and putting it on a shelf would not end well. This formula is vegan-friendly and does not contain any of the non-vegan ingredients we use in some of our other products (Milk Protein, Honey and Beeswax).

What is the pH level of your products?

Our Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide Active Serum is slightly acidic, balanced to the pH of human skin at 5.5 to 6.0. pH is measured from 0 to 14 depending on how acidic or alkaline a substance is.

I have sensitive skin; will I react to Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide Active Serum?

Everybody is different and what works for some will not for others, and some people have allergies to natural ingredients. We believe that natural ingredients are gentler on the skin and are particularly suitable for those with sensitivities. If you experience any skin issues, we always recommend doing a patch test before use.

Are your products tested on animals?

The only animals we use for testing are our own bodies. We never test on animals and will not export to countries that do.
