What you wash your skin with determines so much about it's overall health. Cleansers are the most overlooked product in any skincare routine. Whilst skin needs to be clean, an overbearing cleanser can cause dryness, irritation and even breakouts.

Before you start blaming your skin troubles on everything else (although late night parties don’t help), a more-likely culprit could be an outdated cleanser, right there under (and around) our noses!

Stripping is not the answer

It’s common to think that blasting your skin with harsh detergents or bleaching ingredients will keep blackheads at bay and stop pimples from parading, but we’re here to tell you that will just leave it dreadfully dry, damaged and dually distressed.

The sebum in our skin (natural oils that it makes) helps keep it moisturized and in fine form, but if its constantly washed away, your skin could kick into oil-making overdrive, causing cloggage and congestion which can lead to even more breakouts.

But it’s hard to undo decades of skincare superstitions and the hard-wired hogwash swirling around out there, like your skin should feel tight after it’s been cleaned.

Not all cleansers are created equal

Our skin-friendly foaming formula is made with gentle, but effective, naturally derived cleansing ingredients that pump into a dreamy, foamy, meringue-y mousse. We made this caring, non-comedogenic (aka non-clogging) cleanser so we can have all the bougie bubbles without causing any skin troubles.

We steer clear of harsh cleansers found in commercial cleansing products, including floor washes and engine degreasers. SLS is the most common one, but there are others to keep an eye out for on product labels, usually big words ending in –fate.

We think these are too harsh to be used on human faces because they wash away too much oil from the skin, and keeping moisture in helps skin defy forming premature lines and wrinkles.

More than just skin washing

As well as getting the cleaning job done, there’s quite a bit more about our formula we'd like to brag about. This fancy formula is designed to dissolve dirt and makeup from the day and clear away dead skin cells to keep your face looking fierce and fresh.

It gets down and dirty to combat congestion, banish bacteria, wash away excess oils and helps regulate oil production (a contributing factor to building blemishes) to prevent breakouts.

And the cherry on top, we included Papaya Fruit Extract to clarify the skin with gentle, enzymatic exfoliation that dives deep into pores and helps remove rough, flaky skin to ditch dullness.

Keep skin clean without being mean

Because blemish-prone skin can often feel more sensitive, we added Calendula Extract to calm and soothe breakouts and redness. Gentle enough to be used every day, and suitable for all genders, skin types and ages, including fussy teenagers.

But what's in our all-natural hydrating face wash is just as important as what's not. Our formula also contains no parabens or other synthetic preservatives like yucky phenoxyethanol.

What makes this formula foamy?

Our fluffy, foamy formula is made possible by our naturally derived cleansing ingredients in combination with our foaming-making pump bottle. As the liquid formula is pushed through the pump top, it creates a dreamy, foamy, meringue-y mousse.

The inclusion of Mystic and Oleic Acid boosts the foaming texture, providing a wonderfully silky feel. We skip on harsh ingredients like SLS that foam up well but are also found in things like floor cleaning products – our face says no thanks! What type of skin is Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser best for?

This cleanser is made for absolutely everyone but it’s especially effective for those with blemish-prone and oiler skin types. Can Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser only be used on the face?

While the name of the product says “face cleanser”, you can most certainly use this formula wherever you like, from head to toe. Most commercial face wash products are made with sulfates and detergents that clean the skin but can also often strip it of its natural oils. This gentle formula is made with high-quality, skin-friendly, natural ingredients so we highly recommend using it on other parts of your body so they can also reap the benefits of this wonderful wash. Is Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser safe for lash extensions?

Yes! This formula is perfect for lash extensions because it has the same irritation score as water and uses a combination of gentle, natural cleansers. Oils can break down the glue used on lash extensions, so steer clear of using any oil-based cleansers, like our Oil Cleansing Method, on the eye area while you’ve got lash extensions in place.

Your Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser has a fragrance. Aren’t fragrances bad?

We designed our Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser to be suitable for people with sensitive skin, but we also know that many people, including ourselves, enjoy having a fragrance in our skincare products. To give our Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser its delicious, signature scent without compromising its gentleness and non-irritating nature, we use a special hypoallergenic fragrant oil, a proprietary blend whereby each component in it is less than the EU allergy threshold. Also, it’s free from phthalates, which is a major concern in fragrances.

What is double-cleansing and what products do you recommend?

Double cleansing is where you wash your face twice in the same go, once with an oil-based cleanser and once with a water-based cleanser, one after the other. The order in which you do these comes down to personal preference. Some like to use the oil-based cleanser first (like our Oil Cleansing Method) to remove heavier makeup and SPF products, followed by the water-based cleanser (like our Creamy Hydrating Face Cleanser or our Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser) to do the final clean sweep. Others like to let the water-based cleanser do the first pass and finish up with the oil-based cleanser to get even deeper into the pores and leave a sheeny residue on the skin. Haven’t tried double-cleansing yet? It’s so hot right now. We highly recommend doing this at least once a week to give your skin that extra once (or twice) over for the ultimate deep clean.

We also recommend a routine with regular, but gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin for a fresher, brighter, more radiant complexion. Is Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser made of milk?

We aren’t called MooGoo because our products are made with milk. Putting fresh milk into a skincare product and putting it on a shelf would not end well. We use ethically and sustainably sourced Milk Protein from a credible Australian supplier.

Is Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser suitable for children?

Our Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser is made for the whole family! For all ages, from adults to children, and everything in between. Since it's free of sulfates like SLS, it's tear-free too. If allergies are a concern, as with all natural products, we recommend doing a patch test before use.

What is the pH level of your products?

Our Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser is slightly acidic, balanced to the pH of human skin at 5.5 to 6.0. pH is measured from 0 to 14 depending on how acidic or alkaline a substance is.

Healthy skin can retain moisture, maintain a robust microbiome and keep irritants away. Using a cleanser that's pH balanced to match our skin is one of the best ways to support this.

I have sensitive skin; will I react to Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser?

Everybody is different and what works for some will not for others, and some people have allergies to natural ingredients. We believe that natural ingredients are gentler on the skin and are particularly suitable for those with sensitivities. If you experience any skin issues, we always recommend doing a patch test before use.

Are your products tested on animals?

The only animals we use for testing are our own bodies. We never test on animals and will not export to countries that do.

Are natural cleansers good for your skin?

Detergents and sulfates like SLS, which are often found in skin wash products are also used in commercial floor cleaning products. We think these strip out and wash away too much oil and moisture from the skin, often causing itchiness, irritation and dryness. We think switching to a gentler, more natural face wash is one of the best things you can do for your skin.

Is natural face wash better for the environment?

Natural cleansers are also much better for the environment when they’re washed down the drain and enter our waterways as they break down more quickly than synthetic ingredients.

Does natural face wash work?

Natural face washes work just as well at washing the skin as their synthetic counterparts. But the foam and suds created by cleansers in natural cleaners is noticeably less than those made by their commercial counterparts, which can make it feel less effective. We think this trade-off is well worth the extra benefit.

Why are natural cleansing products better?

Natural cleansing products are made with natural cleansing ingredients that don’t strip the skin of their natural oils. Natural cleansers also break down faster once they reach our waterways.

What kind of cleanser is best for sensitive skin / skin issues?

The best kind of cleanser for sensitive skin or skin prone to eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis is one that can gently and effectively keep it clean without stripping it of its natural, protective oils and not cause further irritation. Harshly stripping the skin can compromise skin barrier function, which can cause moisture to escape causing dryness, and unwanted irritants to get in causing skin reactions to flare-up, stick around and come back uninvited.
